Mobility

Mobility is a core pillar of the INNOTISSUE Master’s Programme, ensuring that all students experience diverse academic, cultural, and research environments across at least two different countries during their studies.

🌍 Mobility Structure

The programme is structured in a multi-location format:

  • Year 1 – Core Phase
📍 Yıldız Technical University (YTU), Istanbul, Turkey
All students start the programme at YTU, where they take core theoretical and applied modules. This phase establishes a common scientific and technical foundation in biomaterials and tissue engineering.
  • Year 2 – Specialisation Phase
Students move to one of the following partner universities based on their academic interests and thesis topic:
📍 Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), Barcelona, Spain
📍 Politehnica University of Bucharest (UPB), Bucharest, Romania

Students are matched with institutions based on their research focus:

  • UIC specializes in cell-based therapies, biomedical devices, and clinical interfaces.
  • UPB offers expertise in materials science, surface engineering, and translational manufacturing.

🔁 Special Mobility Arrangements

To comply with the minimum two-country requirement:

  • Students from Turkey will complete Year 1 at YTU and spend one semester in Spain and one in Romania during Year 2.
  • Students from Romania will complete their second year in Spain.
  • Students from Spain will complete their second year in Romania.

All students will conduct thesis work under a co-supervision model, involving advisors from at least two partner institutions.

🎯 Benefits of Mobility

  • Exposure to diverse research infrastructures and lab facilities
  • Integration into multicultural academic teams
  • Access to industry connections and internship networks in multiple regions
  • Development of adaptability, intercultural communication, and global employability
