Laboratory Studies
Hands-on laboratory experience is at the core of the INNOTISSUE Master’s programme. Students gain access to cutting-edge research facilities across Europe, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real experimental settings and develop essential skills for biomedical innovation.
State-of-the-Art Lab Facilities
Each partner university offers access to modern laboratories equipped for:
• Biomaterials synthesis and characterization
• Cell culture and tissue engineering
• 3D bioprinting and scaffold fabrication
• Mechanical, chemical, and biological analysis
• Sterile handling and advanced imaging
Students are trained using industry-grade equipment and research protocols, ensuring they are fully prepared for academic or professional research environments.
Integrated into the Curriculum
Lab work is embedded throughout the curriculum:
• Core courses include practical lab components and project-based activities
• Students are encouraged to pursue individual or team-based research mini-projects
• Lab-based modules are aligned with thesis and internship pathways
• Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), safety, and ethical conduct are emphasized from the first semester
Cross-Institutional Collaboration
Students benefit from lab exposure across multiple institutions, gaining diverse perspectives and technical proficiencies:
• France: advanced biomaterials and innovation prototyping
• Spain: clinical research simulations and biomanufacturing
• Portugal/Italy: fabrication technologies, dynamic bioreactors, and translational bioengineering
Skills Developed
Through hands-on laboratory training, students will:
• Design, execute, and analyze scientific experiments
• Handle advanced biomedical instruments
• Collaborate across disciplines in research settings
• Learn to troubleshoot and adapt experimental designs
• Build a strong foundation for PhD or R&D careers
